Rules
- Pinch runners may be used for 3 players to be determined at the beginning of each game. You can run only for the pitcher, catcher and 1 player of your choice. The runner must be a sub and not in the batting order. If there are no subs then the last batted out can pinch run. If the player running previously has been entered into the order, the player he is pinch hitting for is now the runner.
- Pitchers are allowed to pitch 5 innings per game and 7 per day.
- You can start a game with 8 players. If a team is unable to field a team of 8 players, they have to let the league know by 2 PM the Saturday before the games and a forfeit will be the decision awarding 2 wins to the opponent and umpires need to be aware there is no longer a doubleheader. If you think you might have 8 players or more you must show up and play. Teams are allowed 10 minutes as a grace period after the scheduled game time to wait for an 8th player, after that time has expired and the team still has 7 or less, a forfeit is the result and you may scrimmage with what you have.
- All players playing the following Sunday must be added to your roster on the website before the first pitch of your games, even ringers. Weeks 1 and 2 of league play are considered weeks teams are still figuring out their rosters and recruiting so this rule is exempt those weeks. Feel free to move some players to the inactive tab on your roster to make room for ringers that day. If this rule is not followed after week 3, the opposing team has the right to protest either a forfeit or consider all at bats as ineligible by ineligible players which then result in outs. If pitching, all pitches thrown are illegal and the team forfeits innings thrown by said pitcher.
- Players must play 7 league games to be eligible for playoffs. If a player gets injured early in the season and can return for playoffs then the eligibility of that player will be voted by all coaches in the league. Proof of injury will be required. You gain eligibility when you take an at bat or record at least 1 out as a pitcher. Baserunning and fielding do not count as they are hard to track book-wise. If an opponent forfeits their players do not receive 2 games of eligibility but the team that was forfeited against does get the games counted to everyone on their roster at the time the game was supposed to be played.
- Games have a 2 hours and 20 minutes time limit. No new inning can start after the 2 hours and 10 minutes mark. You must finish the inning if time has been reached.
- If weather cancels a game then a game is considered decided if 4.5 or 5 innings have been played. If 1-3 innings were played, then on the reschedule, the game resumes exactly as it was. The score and inning will remain the same on the rescheduled date. If 3.5-4 innings were played it is up to both coaches to agree on a concluded contest or to resume the game at a later date. All pitching rules must be followed in a resume. For example if a pitcher threw 5 innings in game 1 and game 2 was resumed at a later date, that pitcher can only throw 2 innings.
- Each team must take a picture of their scorebook and upload it to the Google Doc after each doubleheader for each game. This is to eliminate drama and help with playoff eligibility since not every team enters stats on the website.
- Playoffs are double elimination and seeds are determined by league standings. In the 1st round, the 3 seed plays the 6 seed and the 4 seed plays the 5 seed. The 1 seed plays the winner of 4 vs 5, and the 2 seed plays the winner of 3 vs 6. In the event of a tie, the tie breaker is 1st determined by record vs the opponent you are tied with, then by run differential vs that opponent, and in the event both are tied still then run differential overall. If still tied, record vs the number 1 seed, then number 2 seed. If there is still a tie, a coin flip will determine the higher seed.
- If a player is ejected, they get a 1 game suspension and are fined $30 and it goes to the league bank. A 2nd occurrence is a full season suspension and additional $30 fine.
- The 10 run mercy rule take place after either 4.5 innings have played and the home team is at bat or 5 full innings have been played. The mercy rule also takes place after 5.5 or 6 innings respectively.
- Before leaving all fields, teams must clean up all trash in the dugouts and surroundings. Most fields in the league require dragging, bases to be put away, plugs put in, raking, and tarps to be placed after games so follow each facilities rules.
- Balls are to be given to umps evenly. Either one team gives their baseballs to umps in game 1, while the other in game 2 or 2 are given from each team per game.
- Absolutely no alcohol or drugs can be used on or in the parkings lots of any campus or field that the league uses. $150 fine is caught
- No guns, knives, or weapons will be allowed on the field. If caught with a weapon the cops will be called.
- All bats must be wooden. No metal bats are allowed. Baum bats are allowed. No modifications can be made to the wooden bat such as drilling holes or injecting things inside the bats.
- No substances will be allowed while pitching.
- If a pitcher hits 3 batters they must be taken out of the game.
- This is an 18 and over league. You must be 18 or older the day of the game you are playing for insurance purposes. However, you are allowed 1 17 year old if the player and/or their guardian has signed a waiver.
- For collisions it is the umpires decision to judge whether a runner could have avoided a fielder who clearly had possession of the ball. Attempting to dislodge the ball from a fielder or intending to injure a fielder is not allowed. The runner will be out and given a warning. A 2nd offense is an ejection and ban from the league. Non agregious slides into middle infielders at 2nd base to help the hitter reach 1st base safely are allowed as long as they are not malicious.
- Intentional walks are allowed. However each team is allowed to intentionally walk a batter only twice per game. No pitches need to be thrown.
- Teams may bat everyone on the roster, only bat 9, 10 or whatever number you wish as long as it is 9 or more. Teams are allowed to do A/B for a spot in the batting order. Subs not listed in the lineup card cannot enter the game at any point. Subs listed on the lineup card can.
- Trades among teams are allowed. Players can play for any team they want and should not be forced to stick with a team if they are not happy and no payments have been made. The moment a player pays then they must stay on that team or request a trade with a player that has already paid their player fee on the other team so no team is now suddenly owing money. Once a player has been traded they are not allowed to be traded to a 3rd team. It is the player's responsibility to inform the coach they are leaving the team or requesting a trade and players are only allowed to be on 1 roster at a time. The other coach must remove the traded or departing player from the roster. The receiving coach must add them.
- Teams that intentionally do not show up to a game and there is evidence to support the event and have not notified the league, opposing team, or umpires the day before games are required to pay the umpire and field rental fees for the games they intentionally missed. Intent is the key word here. This does not include teams that notify they are short on players ahead of time, are unsure if 8 players will come to the games, or they are confident 8 players will come to the game but car accidents or other emergencies prevented it on game day. A 2nd offense and that team is ineligible for playoffs. We pay to play baseball and this act would be a waste of the league's time and money. If this happens in playoffs, rental and umpire fees still must be paid, the team committing the sabotage will be removed from playoffs and coaches may face a ban from the league in the future.
- All teams must submit a playoff final roster to be used for playoffs. Coaches must submit all scorebooks as well and provide proof of eligibility if questioned.
